When news first came out about the death of Charlie Kirk I didn’t know who he was. I had heard of Turning Point USA. Some people on podcasts I listen to did know him. I began to learn about who he is, and the work that he did. I’ve heard podcasts talking about him. I’ve looked into him more for myself. Charlie seems to have been a fantastic Christian guy. He was someone who was bold and took action to make our country better while pointing people to Jesus.
From what I’ve seen, we are very like minded! He was talking about and fighting for a number of things that I do. He was way more popular; and actually had people listen to him and then take action as well. If you are against Charlie Kirk, and celebrated his death, then you are against me as well.
This week I listened to one of his podcasts that he did with Steve Deace. Steve is from Des Moines and I know that some of you listen to him. That podcast was fantastic! I highly recommend it.
Why did he do the things that he did and speak out about what he spoke out about? There are two main reasons that I see. He first off saw the deterioration of this country with it’s looming collapse and hence wanted to fight to stop it. He also upon knowing Jesus Christ himself, wanted to see other people come to repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s that simple. He was out of love and concern trying to wake people up from delusion. When you do that (I also know out of experience), some people will not want to wake up. Some people want to keep their current world view. These people will often turn against you in anger and even hatred. Charlie knew that schools were poisoning kids with a far left (Marxist) ideology. It’s an ideology that is anti-Christian. It is one that if carried out will enslave us all to a few elites. This almost happened with the COVID plandemic. Yes, I said plandemic and not pandemic. When you try to bring genuine Light to people you will arouse the wrath of Satan.
Charlie went about preaching Truth. He went about pointing people to the Lord Jesus Christ. He preached repentance. That last one is a big key. Many people teach a false Jesus who demands no repentance. Charlie debated with people. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. He engaged with those of different views. He always let them talk and finish saying whatever points they wanted to make. The guy was great at thinking on his feet. I can’t think on my feet near as well as he could. I saw nothing hateful from the guy. If you preach Biblical repentance to people, some will hate that and may falsely accuse you of being hateful. I’ve had those false accusations happen to me as well. Again, if you try to bring people Light and wake them from delusions, they may hate you for it. Some in society may teach that someone telling you something you don’t want to hear is hate speech. That is a lie. Sometimes it is the most loving thing that you can do!
Some people are saying that his martyrdom is sparking revival. Many people sure seem to be reacting correctly from it. There are signs that this may be happening! Only time will make manifest what is birthed from cooperation with the Holy Spirit and what is merely emotional reaction.
From what I have seen, Charlie (and Steve Deace) have made great points about repentance and actually following the Lord Jesus Christ. This isn’t a message just for those who don’t claim to be a Christian. It is also for many who claim to be His. I routinely see people who claim to be a Christian who look no different to those all around them. I’ve heard so few give a good testimony for conversion or experiencing the Life of Jesus. Jesus himself said in Mathew 7 that few find the Way of Life. While many preachers today teach to simply believe of Jesus. Jesus taught to repent and believe. Repentance is taught all throughout the Bible. Acts 3:19a “Repent ye therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out,…” Acts 20:21 :Testifying both to Jews and Greeks of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. “ The Bible tells us that Christians will be different. I know a loved one who denies this. She says you can’t judge people by what they say and do. The Bible says that is clearly wrong. Here again are a few passages that teach the opposite. Mathew 7:20 ” Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them. “ John 13:35 ” By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. “ Loving others certainly isn’t telling people only what they want to hear. It isn’t giving them messages of approval no matter what. Most people will at least acknowledge that kids need to be corrected. The Bible says that if you don’t discipline your kids that it means you hate them. Why does that stop for adults in this country? It isn’t Biblical.
James 2:15-20 AMP “If a brother or sister is without [adequate] clothing and lacks [enough] food for each day, and one of you says to them, ” Go in peace [with my blessing], [keep] warm and feed yourselves, “ but does not give them the necessities for the body, what good does that do? So too, faith, if it does not have the works [to back it up], is by itself dead [inoperative and ineffective]. But someone may say, “You [claim to] have faith and I have [good] works; show me your [alleged] faith without the works [if you can], and I will show you my faith by my works [that is by what I do].” You believe God is one, you do well [to believe that]. The demons also believe [that] and shudder and bristle [In awe-filled terror – they have seen His wrath]! But are you willing to recognize, you foolish [spiritually shallow] person, that faith without [good] works is useless?” God’s Word clearly tells us that a mere intellectual ascent to facts about Jesus [merely believing of (most people would use the word in rather than of) Jesus Christ] saves nobody. A Christian will be different. They will not only have works; but good works. The Holy Spirit must be at work bringing them about.
Do you want to be apart of a Christian revival? Do you want to see a real revival in this country? Start by not deceiving yourself over loved ones and friends who claim to be a Christian, but clearly aren’t one. If people are poisoning you with your obedience to God, separate from them. At the least put up some healthy boundaries. Find a way to lovingly say something to them.
What about yourself? I know an extended family member who says she is a Christian. She came from a good home, went to Church regularly, went to many Church functions , went to camps, went on mission trips, and wears Christian clothes. As far as I know there are things she refrains from for reason of being a Christian. Yet she clearly isn’t a Christian. I know of no conversion, experiencing the Love of Jesus, or having a changed life testimony. She always seems so self-absorbed, I’ve known her for roughly 25 years. I can’t recall a SINGLE time that she came up to talk with me or my family. Not ONCE has she asked us anything about ourselves or showed a single ounce of care for us. My mom, brother, and sister have said that the same is true for them and their families. She has raised money for some of her camps and mission trips. I’ve donated money to her for those things multiple times. I’ve only ever gotten a formal thank you. Sometimes not even that. If you have no love, or even basic human kindness for your own relatives, there is no Biblical support for you being a Christian. When your face is stuck on grumpy mode all the time, and you make a practice of whining, you surely don’t know the Love of Jesus.
What does living like a Christian look like? Charlie was a good example. He lived for others. He lived trying to love others and point them to Jesus. He was humble enough to learn from others. He had multiple mentors. He continued to do so. There wasn’t an attitude of I’ve got this now. The Bible says that if you love God you will keep His commandments. The word keep there is a word that means to be guided by. Are there any sins that you use to enjoy that you are now healed of, or being healed of? What sacrifices do you make to your will for the sake of God’s will? Do you continually analyze yourself to see how you can better be conformed to Jesus? Do you make practice of: phone surfing, watching TV, watching movies, having as much fun as can be, working all the time, or trying to be famous for something/? Do you instead make a practice of helping others in real tangible ways? Do you in general spend so much time trying to serve God and others that you do not make a practice of the things listed before? The Bible says that pure undefiled religion is visiting widows and taking care of orphans. Do you visit widows or those in need? Maybe you have no orphans around. What about all the neglected and poorly parented children around? Do you care for them? Do you only tell people what they want to hear so that you will upset nobody? Do you tell people what they need to hear for their own best interest?
I say those things out of love just like Charlie said them to people out of love. I grew up thinking myself to be a Christian my whole life. I was once tricked by a gospel message void of repentance. In April of 2014 is when I came to the Lord Jesus Christ for real. That is when God brought me Light to repent and turn to Him. One night staying up all night during a Church leadership conference is when I did.
Here is one thing that those at Turning Point USA and the Charlie Kirk Show will need to watch out for as they try to continue their work without him. Their work is something that many people all of a sudden want to join in on. They must fight hard to keep out those who aren’t real christians from joining them. All true Christian work is birthed from the Holy Spirit. They must watch out for people will insert something of themselves into this work. Many great works of the Holy Spirit have been made into a “thing” themselves. They became too big and had false converts come in and insert something of themselves into the work. These people slowly poison it. The Boy Scouts are a great example. It was started as a Christian thing. Now it is junk liberal endeavor. It isn’t Christian anymore. Those working with Charlie will tempted to want to jump on enthusiasm and grow too much and fast. They will be tempted to not screen people very well because of the high volume of interested people. Keep in mind from the Parable of the Sower that those sown among the rocks produced a plant very quickly. It just soon died out before ever being fruitful. Ones enthusiasm isn’t always a good indicator of how helpful somebody will be. I experienced that in youth group before.
A few final thoughts on revival. Revival starts with me. It then goes out to my family. It then goes out to my fellowship group and the community. Stop thinking too big and broad. Stop looking for others to change. I need to be the change. Revival is first and foremost inward change. It’s not merely outward conformity. Revival is a great collection of individuals being healed of sin and sins. Revival happens over a long period of time. It isn’t a one off thing; rather is isn’t millions of little steps all adding up to something profound. You can find much great teaching on these points. The guys at Wall Builders just had a great podcast series on this topic. Charlie was martyred for bringing Truth and following Jesus. He was bold. Will that lead to real Christian revival? We can sure hope so! Any realities will start with individuals turning to the Lord Jesus Christ in genuine repentance. It will be followed up by obedience. This isn’t just for the unsaved. It is a continual way of life for Christians. There is all sorts of sins in our country. There is tons of error in “Christianity” today in the country. The options for repentance and new found obedience are plentiful.
Let’s do our part to live better in pleasing God and to try and save our failing country! God has no doubt been at work stirring things up and bringing great mercies to this country the past few years! May we be a part of it!
